For my last sit-down meal in Brooklyn, my sister took me to her local ramen spot which is Nana Ramen. It's a small and cozy restaurant with plenty of ramen options to choose from. I decided on the kimchi ramen (added minced pork) and the sausage appetizer. The sausage and karaage (that my sister ordered) were great! A meal could easily be made from these two apps alone. The kimchi ramen was perfect. Soup tasted mildly like kimchi chigae but a much lighter version. I enjoyed all of the toppings in the ramen, too (corn, seaweed. Bok choy, kimchi). It wasn't overwhelming and there were plenty of noodles, too! Service was fine, albeit a little slow at times but there seems to be only one lady that is overseeing the FOH. Also - this place is CASH ONLY.
Food was amazing. The chicken meatball shoyu bowl was out of this world. The shrimp shumai and the gyoza was amazing!!! The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars is because they are cash only...
This place was good but it wasn't the best. The service is excellent which is why I didn't knock off too many stars. However, the broth lacks in flavor. It's good if you're new to ramen but I've been to many places and this just doesn't have the flavor profile to be Tonkotsu ramen. Also, the Agedashi tofu was okay. It didn't have a crispy texture that I'm used to having but the dashi broth was very flavorful.
I think Nana Ramen is not very authentic Japanese? Curry ramen has coconut milk in it, so it definitely has a Thai-influence. I was expecting the brown Japanese curry flavor, so that was a bit disappointing. There's also bokchoy in it, so it's confusing. I don't hate the black tonkatsu, but the soft-boiled egg doesn't work in ramen like this. And there's only 1/2 of it. Again, I expected the soy-marinated one. The chicken karaage is good, and I like the crispy batter with the skin on. Overall, Nana Ramen's food gets 3.5/5. Decent prices for nyc! Staff mask, and service is fast for a Fri night dine-in. Interior is nice and modern, and I like the industrial light fixtures! CASH ONLY! If you're hungry, it's a decent spot for Asian food in the area. I don't think I will be back.
What can I say about good ramen? It's freaking good. Spicy miso had a good kick but honestly wasn't too spicy, could've had more heat. But the broth was really flavorful, I didn't let a single drop go to waste! Nice small ramen spot! Cash only though!! But luckily there is an ATM inside the shop in case you need it.
Was craving ramen again and decided to grab a bowl here for take out during lunch hour. I ordered the Black Tonkotsu ramen and it was packaged nicely with the soup in a separate pint. It hit the spot - nice springy noodles, Japanese wood ear, two slices of chashu, a soft boiled egg in a flavorful broth. Restaurant was very quiet during a weekday lunch hour and service was friendly. Cash only though - $17.40 in total.
